 Since 2008, Berat has been a UNESCO World Heritage site, boasting one of the best-preserved Old Towns in the Balkans. We will explore the 2400-years-old Illyrian castle on top of the hill overlooking the Osumi valley and the three fresco-covered churches. The icon gallery of 16th Century Onufri has one of the best Byzantine icon collections in Albania. We will walk through the narrows streets of the Old Town, known as "the 1001 windows". We will also visit the Bachelor's and King's Mosque and town bazaar.
Leaving Berat, we visit a local winery, to sample some excellent local white and red wines.
